At Centra, we’re business as usual, especially now things feel less than normal. And that means 470 stores with retailers, store staff, warehouse staff and drivers, keeping the trucks rolling and the shelves stocked with fresh food, Irish meat and freshly baked bread daily.
We’ve always stood for community. Centra we’re in this together #WereInItTogether
Our 470 Centra stores are independently owned, and community based and will remain open every day. Our opening times may vary to suit the needs of our local communities so please check with your local store to ensure that they are open before you make your journey.
Protecting our Staff
Protecting our staff and customers is our number 1 priority. We have a range of preventative measures in place across our Centra Stores to help stop the spread of COVID-19. We ask for your support in implementing these necessary measures:
- Sanitise your hands when entering.
- Use contactless or card payments where possible
- At busy times we will need to limit the number of people entering the store
- Buy what you need, we are re-stocking everyday
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow
- If you need any help just ask
To help with social distancing while you shop, please remember to keep 2meters apart at all times.
- Use the size of a trolley as a distance guide between each other
- Follow the floor marking distance guides at checkouts
If you should be self-isolating, we ask that you respect our teams and customers by not visiting our stores. Please use our online shopping service or ask a family member or friend to pick up the essential items you need.
Care for our elderly
At Centra we make it our business to care for our most vulnerable and elderly customers all day every day. Our staff are always on hand to help those that are most in need.
Please be assured that our Centra supermarkets will remain open and supply will continue. All of our stores are receiving supplies daily direct from our dedicated delivery drivers and warehouses. Our suppliers and teams are doing everything possible to get as many products onto all our shelves as they can. So, we ask you to please be considerate in the way you shop and buy only what you need, it helps everyone, especially the elderly and people with disability.
Plexiglass in all store
Plexiglass will be made available across Centra stores as an added protective measure for cashiers against Coronavirus, with the first installations being completed on the 19th of March. This follows the other social distancing and preventative measures that have already been introduced such as hand sanitisers and tape on the floor to show customers how far to stay apart in queues, along with community supports for elderly and vulnerable people.
Commenting on the plexiglass installations, Managing Director of Centra Martin Kelleher said: “We are going above and beyond for our team and customers who visit our stores by making this investment. It is very important for us to give peace of mind to our people, especially our cashiers who are the face of Centra and SuperValu. As we have said previously, it’s important that people go about their shopping differently to make sure that everyone stays healthy.”
“We would like to thank our customers for their ongoing patience and call on them to take note of the various measures in place. We also welcome the announcement by the banks that they will be raising the contactless threshold to €50 and would ask customers to tap and pay wherever possible, or to use their smartphone for higher value purchases.”
