Start your day with something that fills your body with some great nutrition.  Breakfast is an essential meal to get you ready for the day and you can use it as an opportunity to get started on your 5-a-day, add in some wholegrains, boost your protein or all three! Our recipes look at some breakfasts that are quick for when you are in a hurry and that take a little longer for days you have time to really enjoy your first meal of the day.

Breakfast tips:

- Try to have breakfast as close to getting up as you can – ideally within 1 hour of getting out of bed
- Aim to make fruit or vegetables 1/3 of your breakfast so that you have a better chance of hitting your 5-a-day targets
- Include some protein: you don’t need huge amounts but a little at breakfast is a good start to the day.  Yogurt, nuts, seeds, eggs and nut butters are good sources of protein.
- Wholegrains are a great source of fibre and make a great start for anyone not up to a challenging breakfast first thing.
