Low in

Looks at nutrients that we want to eat a little less of.  This looks at levels of fat, saturated fat, salt and sugar in foods and highlights foods that are low or lower in these less desirable nutrients.  We have to be careful here because a food that is low in sugar is not necessarily good for you or one that is high in fat is not necessarily bad for you so we have looked at the overall nutrition of a food as well as the levels of fat, sugar or salt.  Nuts are high in fat but also rich sources of vitamins and minerals so they are not foods we want people to avoid – we might just need to learn about portion sizes and the difference between a healthy handful of nuts and eating a whole bag in one sitting!
