‘Store of the Year’ Awards

09 February 2015: Centra stores in Cork and Donegal are jubilantly celebrating after O’ Leary’s Centra in Tower, Co. Cork won the coveted Centra ‘Store of the Year Award 2015’, along with Centra’s ‘Neighbourhood Store of the Year Award 2015’.  Lee’s Centra in Charleville, Co. Cork scooped Centra’s ‘High Convenience Store of the Year Award 2015’ and Kelly’s Centra in Mountain-Top, Co. Donegal took home the ‘Convenience Store of the Year Award 2015’, all having fought off stiff competition from Centra retailers around the country. The awards were presented by Martin Kelleher, Centra Managing Director, Ian Allen, Centra Sales Director and Robert Finnegan, Three CEO (sponsors of the Awards).

The Centra ‘Store of the Year’ Awards are bestowed upon the stores which give a true reflection of excellence across every retail aspect. All 463 Centra stores throughout the Republic of Ireland are audited by an independent retail consultant, Joe Comerford, for the award.  The audit focuses on value, fresh food, quality, product range, hygiene, customer service and local community involvement.

Commenting on the awards, competition judge, Joe Comerford said “These finalists offer an exceptional service from the moment you step inside their door. They tick all the boxes – from a wide product selection with an excellent fresh food offering, to great value products with first rate customer service. Local community involvement is also of paramount importance to these stores.”

On receipt of the ‘Overall’ Store of the Year Award, Paddy O ‘Leary, Store Owner, paid tribute to his management team and all the staff.  “We are delighted to win the Centra Store of the Year Award. This award is a true reflection of the dedication by all our staff to providing best value, service and range for our customers. On a daily basis we work hard to offer a welcoming and top class customer service throughout the store. It is our team’s passion and professional approach that sets us apart from our competitors.” he said.

Similarly Ray Lee, Store Owner, Lee’s Centra, Charleville commended his team and offered that they are a true inspiration and a pleasure to work with. “Every day our team works hard to give our customer’s an excellent shopping experience. That takes dedication and commitment which is rewarded by the tremendous support of our local customers.”

Delighted with the win store owner Mairtín Kelly, Kelly’s Centra, Mountain-Top, Letterkenny commended his team and offered that they are a true inspiration and a pleasure to work with.  “We are delighted to win this award.  It is recognition for all the hard work my team puts in on a daily basis, focusing on providing excellent quality, superb difference and first rate service to our customers.  I would like to thank my team for their passion for excellence and our customers for their continued support” he said.

Martin Kelleher, Managing Director of Centra commended all Centra Retailers on the night, for their involvement in the competition and maintaining the highest quality standards across all aspects of the business.
